Blog Entry 4: "My Place in the Cave"

In "Allegory of the Cave," from the book Republic, which has Socrates having a conversation with Glaucon, about how far our nature is enlightened or unenlightened. Human beings living in a underground den, since their childhood, and have their legs and necks chained so they cannot move them, the truth would be literally nothing but the shadows of the images. When any of them is liberated and compelled suddenly to stand up and turn his neck round and walk and look towards the light, he will suffer sharp; the glare will distress him, and he will be unable to see the realities of which in his former state he had seen the shadows. He will have to grow accustom to the sight of the upper world.

At this point in my life I am the guy that left the cave, but in this case I'm still in my journey trying adjust to my new life. Before leaving the cave I was stuck and didn't care about my future. All I cared about was hanging out and not thinking, how in the long run it will affect my life. As I got older I decided to leave the cave and make my own destiny. In doing so I never looked back and I am learning how to adjust my life.

Blog Entry 3: Summarizing "I Know the Truth".

In "I Know the Truth",Jefferey Kluger Explains That, Humans are easily deceived by rumors and flat-out lies.He begins his article with the, ongoing shouting match over the planned mosque (which isn't really a mosque) at ground zero (which isn't really ground zero). In the new study R.Kelly Grant and Erik Nisbet,at Ohio state University, recruited 750 people who reported familiar with-and believing at least one of the rumors about the proposed Islamic cultural center.Garret and Nisbet were disturbed by how easy it is to manipulate people's belief system, and what they found most troubling was that, fewer than a third of people were willing to reverse their positions, regardless of the contradictory evidence they were given.Garret Studies show that when subjects are presented with data that contradicts their belief ,they often-paradoxically-respond by sticking on their biases even more strongly.they believe no matter what the scans and other studies reveal,of course it's up to us to find a place in a world of facts and make our decision based on that information.

Blog 2 Reflecting on Annotating

Well from what i got in Annotating is something new. i never took that approach in reading before, for me it help me figure things out faster as oppose to just reading it and just going by memory. like going back to the first article on how to do things at a time. i could read something but as soon as im done my brain starts to think about other things, Annotating the readings brings me right back to it.Well what me and my partners agreed on is that google is not making you stupid we think maybe lazy. reason we say that regardless of all the distraction you can get online you can get in information,it all depends on the person and if you are a person that gets distracted then you should be a single tasker not a multi-tasker.

blog entry one

Advertisement Can Be good and bad.it Just Depends on What There are advertising, For Example I’m a Diabetic, and It’s Always good to get new information On new Products That Help you Make it easier to deal with it.                                                                                                                                                                                                 When you are not well informed you will still be stuck using Old methods that really suck, That’s Just one Example There are a lot of other Good advertising out there Like New medicine for cancer, the no smoking commercials etc…But Like With every Good Thing there’s a bad thing and this Country it’s all about the money. It’s sad but Advertising People want the big bucks, so if they have to show you a Mcdonalds commercial To Make Sure u go get that big Mac they will, if it Don’t work on t.v they have  Ad’s That are all over the place. It’s sad they do these things Knowing that’s bad for u and too much of fast food causes obesity and other illness diabeties being one them. At the end of the day All they think about is money if they have to show you and shove it down your face all the time to get there product sold whether is music, food, clothes, games, medicine they will. Now the thing that gets me is that what if you are in the fashion industry are u wrong for having your ad’s out there because u want to sell your product. Or what if u start your own franchise instead of Mcdonalds . Is called burger heaven are u wrong? Because that’s how u make your money u want to start your empire and in your heart you feel like you’re doing the right thing What to do?
In The End It’s a double edge sword you just have to find it in your heart and believe that you’re doing the right thing and not just for the money because in my opinion once the love of whatever you are doing is gone you will never be fully happy.
